CRMC Calendar

All workshops and events are provided by the Career Resource Management Center (CRMC) at MCAS-Yuma. The workshops are open to all active duty service members, spouses, family members, and retirees. BOOTS TO BUSINESS ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRACK
A seminar facilitated by the Small Business Administration (SBA) for Marines interested in pursuing self-employment in the private or non-profit sector. This course will teach Marines about the challenges faced by entrepreneurs, the benefits and realities of entrepreneurship, and the steps toward business.

ACCESSING HIGHER EDUCATION
A seminar facilitated by P&PD staff which guides the Marine through the variety of decisions involved in choosing a college, degree program, the admissions process, and funding options. The expected outcome is to transition to a higher education institution.

VA CLAIMS PROCESSING
A Veterans Affairs (VA) Claims Representative will be at MCAS Yuma once a month to accept claims for VA Disability Benefits. For more information, contact 928-269-3172.
CAREER AND EDUCATION FAIR
Held once a year at MCAS Yuma. National and local employers are present looking to hire veterans. Colleges, universities, as well as career and technical schools, are also present to answer questions.
Job and Education Fair 2020PRE-SEPARATION COUNSELING
Pre-Separation Counseling is a mandatory briefing that must be attended before attending the Transition Readiness Seminar (TRS). Benefits you may have earned and information on services and programs that will assist you with your transition to civilian life will be covered. The Pre-Separation Counseling brief takes place every Wednesday (except holidays) at 1600 in building 852.

A five-day mandatory training to be taken 12-14 months prior to separation, but no less than 180 days. TRS provides information and training to ensure service members are prepared for their next step in life whether pursuing additional education finding a job or starting their own business. Required training for all Marines within 90 days of arrival at their First Permanent Duty Station. This five-hour brief provides information on resources and programs you can use to develop your education, training, and experience throughout your career. Family Member Assistance Program Workshops & Events
The following workshops and events are facilitated by the Family Member Assistance Program (FMEAP). The workshops are open to all, spouses, family members, active duty service members, retirees and DOD civilian employees. Registration is appreciated, walk-ins are welcome upon availability. SPOUSE TRANSITION AND READINESS SEMINAR (STARS)
2-hour Workshop, 1300-1500
The Spouse Transition and Readiness Seminar (S.T.A.R.S.) is an informational workshop designed to provide spouses of retiring or separating Service Members the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge of resources and pressing information as it relates to the upcoming transition. A panel of subject matter experts regarding topics such as education and career programs, benefits and entitlements, and financial considerations, will be on hand to ensure that the transition from a military to a civilian lifestyle is as smooth as possible.
RESUME WRITING (PRIVATE SECTOR)
A 6 hour, 2 part class: (It is recommended to bring your own laptop)
0900-1100: Covers information on the different resume styles, how to develop a master resume and how to put your education, experience, and background together to put together an effective private sector/civilian resume.
1300-1530: Provides hands-on resume development assistance; for many job seekers, preparing a resume is the first critical step in the job search process; learn how to target your skills and prepare a resume that will make a positive impression on prospective employers.
10 STEPS TO A FEDERAL JOB (FEDERAL RESUME)
A 5.5 hour, 2 part class
0900-1130: Civil service is an especially attractive employment route for the military community; this session will cover the different federal agencies, GS pay scale, veteran’s preference, military spouse preference and other federal employment information.
1300-1400: Participants will have the opportunity to navigate USAJOBS, learn how to use the resume builder, assistance in writing a federal resume, information general federal selection and how the hiring process works. A must, if you are considering civil service.
INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES
2-hour class 1000-1200
Know the game – Win the job! The resume gets you the interview; the interview gets you the job! You will learn how to dress for success, what to say, what to ask, research employers effectively, practice commonly asked interview questions and how to answer them competently, handle difficult and unexpected questions, and apply proper etiquette and body language. Designed to prepare you to interview effectively and confidently for employment.
